BREAKING NEWS: Owatonna woman named Farmfest Farmer of the Year

Long-time Steele County farmer Alma Kubat has been named Farmfest Woman Farmer of the Year.

Kubat, 83, received the top honor Thursday morning at Farmfest in Morgan. A representative from First District Congressman Brad Finstad’s office presented the award to Kubat at the annual farm show that attracts farmers and politicians from all over the state.

She has lived on her farm south of Owatonna for 62 years and still helps with her sons, Brad and Brent, with projects on the farm.

Brad Kubat said his mother is the “hardest working farm wife in the county,” and has the hands to prove it. “She lives, breathes and will die a farmer,” he said.
