BREAKING NEWS: Veteran sports writer passes away

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that the Steele County Times announces the passing of long-time sports writer and columnist LeMar Nelson.
LeMar died early this morning in the Twin Cities. He was 87.
He had been in the hospital over the New Year after falling and died of health complications related to the recovery. 
He has been writing for the Times for the past 28 years. He wrote a weekly column during his entire tenure called "Outside the Lines." His last column, "Another decade upon us" was published just two weeks ago in the Jan. 1 edition.
"We are at a loss with LeMar's passing," said Publisher Rick Bussler. "He was a gentle giant who cared so deeply for the Blooming Prairie community. I am honored to have had him writing for the community newspaper over the 10 years I have owned the paper."
Funeral services are pending.
