It was a St. Patrick’s Day celebration at Prairie Manor in Blooming Prairie last week as a group of residents gathered to talk, laugh, enjoy some green snacks and beverages.
Residents Betty Qualls and Clarence Waters, along with staff member Aric Christopherson, even got into the spirit of the day with appropriate hats.
Qualls, 95, who made the news last year when she did some skydiving on her birthday, was decked out in a green hat as she talked with her friends. She explained she had worked for many years as a bartender in Denver where her goal was to make people happy, and she was continuing making people happy at Prairie Meadows. Her daughter, she added, encouraged her to move to Minnesota so she could be nearer to the Mayo Clinic when she was having some health issues.
Clarence Waters, who was showing off his holiday glasses, said he had been a motorcycle enthusiast, and five or six times had even traveled to Sturgis, S.D., for the motorcycle rally.
While Tuesday was a special day, those attending said, there is always plenty to do at Prairie Manor. Every day, Kay Noble said, there are activities including card games and puzzles and many times there are special activities in the afternoon.
