BREAKING NEWS: Medford Mayor loses bid for re-election

A former Medford mayor has unseated the current mayor after Tuesday’s general election.
Danny Robert Thomas easily defeated Mayor Lois Nelson by gaining 74% of the vote compared to Nelson’s 25%. The vote totals were Thomas, 508 and Nelson, 175. There were two write-in votes.
Medford voters also ousted a council member in Tuesday’s election. Mandy Mueller with 302 votes and Chad Merritt with 272 votes were elected to the council. Current council member Matt Dempsey came in third with 240 votes.
The city’s Main Street project became a hot button topic in Medford this year and appears to have spilled over into the polls with the mayor and council member getting beat.
