BREAKING NEWS: OPS custodian booked on child porn charges

A custodian with Owatonna Public Schools is in jail, booked on suspicion of using minors in a sexual performance.
Jeremy Alvarez, 30, was arrested Tuesday; he is described as a second-shift custodian.
In a letter to families in the district, Superintendent Jeff Elstad said the alleged criminal activities did not involve any OPS students, and was restricted to online behavior.
Alvarez, who had not been formally charged as of Wednesday evening, was placed on leave from the district, Elstad said, and is not allowed on school property.
