The Minnesota State Patrol identified the victim of Monday’s pick-up crash into the Straight River south of Owatonna as a 71-year-old New Richland man. His name will not be released until Tuesday morning.
The man was driving a 2013 Toyota Tundra Pickup when it went off I-35 and into the Straight River. The patrol said the vehicle left the roadway and broke through the guard rail before entering the river. The vehicle was submerged when emergency personnel arrived.
After hours of searching and recovering the man’s body, the patrol determined he was traveling alone.
