Buchholtz leads Kingsland past Blooming Prairie

The Blooming Prairie girls dropped their second straight game when Kingsland used its home court advantage to down the the Awesome Blossoms, 69-58.
The non-conference contest marked another game in a stretch of tough games in the BP season schedule.
The Blossoms got down early when the Knights scored 26 points in the first seven minutes of the game.
However, BP fought back to trail by just seven shortly before the halftime break, but the home team led by 44-35 at the break.
The offense played well in the second half, but defensively, the team had no answer for the Kingsland outburst. The half was a back and forth affair, with the Blossoms closing within five points a couple of times, but the
Knights answered back with a run of their own.
“We got down early and although we were able to recover, we were never able to counteract the Knights’ early big run,” Blooming Prairie head coach John Bruns said. “I was happy with our offense, but our defense had no answer for their hot shooting.”
BP’s Megan Oswald had another good game, scoring 23 points and pulling down 13 rebounds for another double-double. Maya Lembke added 14 points and nine rebounds and Bobbie Bruns chipped in 10 points and eight assists.
No other Blossom managed more than four points.
Kingsland’s Lauren Buchholtz led all scorers in the game, as she poured in 32 points. Ellie Buchholtz added 15, and Samantha Werrimont chipped in 12 points.
