Car Time slides into new facility

An exciting new chapter has opened for Car Time of Owatonna as owner Justin Johnson recently moved into a new building replacing a decades-old facility.
The old building served many different venues since it was built in 1973. It has been a restaurant, headquarters for U.S. Representative Tim Penny, Kuehn Motors and finally Car Time.
“It served its purpose,” says Johnson, who has been with Car Time for 17 years, 10 of the last as owner. “It was either nurse that along for another 15 years or get something new,” he said, adding people often enjoy a better atmosphere like the new facility will be able to offer.
Johnson said he toyed with the idea of building new for the past five years. He admits that the thought of fixing up the old building scared him. “You open up a whole new can of worms when you remodel,” he said.
In the end, Johnson elected to construct a new building and demolish the old facility. “This way I was able to make it the way I need,” he said. “It’s a bigger and newer Car Time.”
