Carolyn Honza, 80, Owatonna

Carolyn Marie Honza, 80, of Owatonna, passed away peacefully at home with her family on July 27, 2026, after a courageous battle with metastatic cancer.

Born on Aug.14, 1945, in Faribault, Carolyn was the beloved daughter of Leonard and Eleanor Ceplecha. From an early age, she loved farm life, finding a good bargain, and baking for those she loved.

Carolyn graduated from Montgomery Lonsdale High School and worked at and retired from Federated Insurance.

She loved spending time with her family, gardening, and watching her favorite game shows. Her homemade caramel rolls and kolaches were family favorites. She also enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband, Ron, and adored her cats, Sophie and Hazel.

Those who knew Carolyn will remember her for her kindness, thoughtfulness, generosity, and quiet strength. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome and cared for, and she treasured every moment with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Ronald Honza; her children, Julie (Rich) Clark, Tamara (Alberto) Foncerrada, Laurie (Tom) Runtz, Shannon (Lisa) Honza, Christine (Cameron) Scripture, and Angie (Matt) Palamara; her cherished grandchildren, Mason, Lily, Liam, Brandon, Riley, Lucas, Milo, Kieren, and Andrew; her siblings, Leonard (Cheryl) Ceplecha, Gary Ceplecha, David (Joann) Ceplecha, Jean (Rick) Reid, Dennis (MaryKay) Ceplecha, and Terry (Bob) Condon; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Eleanor Ceplecha; her nephew, Jason Ceplecha; and her grandson, Derek Bulver.

Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Owatonna. Friends greeted the family one hour prior to the funeral mass. Burial will take place later at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Owatonna.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, or the family encourages acts of kindness in Carolyn's memory.

Carolyn will be deeply missed, but her kindness, unconditional love, and generous spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
