Donald Leroy Carlson , 94

Don lived in Blooming Prairie for 72 years where he ran a construction business, raised a family of 4 boys, was a volunteer fire man, Mason, and a Shriner. He was personally invited to the army where he served in the Korean war as a cook stationed in Greenland. In retirement, Don moved to Hayfield, MN, where he built a new workshop and restored an old garage into a cozy cabin for himself. In 2026, he moved to Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield where he made many new friends and truly enjoyed his time there.

He enjoyed many different hobbies throughout the years. His favorite hobby was the carpentry trade, even after retirement, Don continued to work in his personal workshop until January of 2026.
Some of his special memories are Deer hunting with his dad, and Uncles, Ben, Herman, Oscar, and Vic. We drank cold coffee carried in half pint whisky bottles. Also working with Oscar and Looking forward to LeRoy coming to Blooming Prairie for working vacations. Another fun memory was taking Uncle Herman on a snowmobile ride.
