Donna Teeters, 95, Owatonna
Donna Teeters, age 95, of Owatonna, MN, passed away peacefully at Ecumen Brooks surrounded by her family on September 14, 2026. Funeral services for Donna will be held on Tuesday, September 22, at Brick-Meger Funeral Home, 1603 Austin Road, Owatonna, at 5:30 p.m., with visitation one hour before the service. Pastor Dave Klawiter will be officiating.
Donna Mae Teeters was born April 10, 1931, in Blooming Prairie, MN. Donna was the daughter of Aaron and Lorinda Eaker. She survived polio during the first year of her life. She attended school in Blooming Prairie, MN, and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1949. She attended Minnesota School of Business and afterward was employed by Federated Insurance for seven years.
Donna was swept off her feet by Don Teeters, the love of her life and she married Don in 1956. Together Don and Donna raised two daughters, Julie Teeters Von Ruden and Jody Teeters Eckhardt. Don and Donna were married for 63 years. Donna helped with the daily operations of their dairy farm for thirty years. In 1989, Don and Donna retired from farming and moved to 1206 Kast Avenue, Owatonna. Donna worked at Fame Awards for eight years and later worked for Alliance Health Care, where she had the special opportunity to care for her granddaughter, Natalie. She called Natalie her little angel.
Donna enjoyed taking her youngest daughter Jody to horse shows and rodeos. Jody called Donna her wingman. Donna was a member of the Owatonna Saddle Club, served as a secretary for the Dania Cemetery Association for many years, and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.
Donna enjoyed traveling up north and spending time with her daughters Julie and Jody, shopping, and going to craft shows. After the girls left home, Don and Donna cared for several dogs, with Abby being her last dog and her pride and joy. When you stopped in to visit, she was always groomed to the max and had a bow in her hair to match the holiday or season. Abby was a great companion and was by Donna’s side in her final hours.
Donna’s real passion in life was gardening. If you drove by her house, you could find her primping, cutting, watering, and fertilizing her beautiful flowers and spotless lawn. It was very seldom you could find a leaf on her lawn. Donna took great pride in gardening and her passion for flowers was passed down to her daughters and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Donna was also a huge sports fan and enjoyed watching the Vikings, Twins, Lynx, Minnesota Gophers, and Timberwolves on her big screen television with her husband Don. Donna enjoyed watching her grandchildren in the sports of wrestling, football, cross country, and cheerleading, and she also enjoyed going to their concerts.
Donna will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Donna is survived by her daughters Julie Teeters (Dennis) Von Ruden of Owatonna, Jody Teeters (Tom) Eckhardt of Blue Earth, MN; sister Gloria Trom of Austin, MN, brother Roger Eaker of Blooming Prairie; grandchildren, Nicole (Ken) Von Blidner, Landon Von Ruden, Natalie Von Ruden, Tyler Eckhardt, Cody (Madeline) Eckhardt; and five great-grandchildren Weston Von Blidner, Violet Von Blidner, Gustav Eckhardt, Russell Eckhardt, and Maddux Eckhardt; and her loyal dog Abby.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald Teeters, sister Darlene Van Hal, and brothers-in-law Bill Van Hal, Kenny Trom, Kenneth Teeters and Jack Teeters.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ecumen Brooks and Ecumen Hospice for taking care of their mother.
In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to St. John Lutheran Church, Dania Cemetery and Steele County Humane Society.
