  Hey, there's a house on the move.
Yes, there was a house rolling into town in Blooming Prairie last Wednesday, Jan. 16. The three-bedroom house was looking for a new home after it departed its location in south Owatonna.
The house is owned by local developers Peter Vogt and Jake Vogt of J.D.Green, LLC. The father and son developers bought the house from Steele County and decided to bring it to Blooming Prairie, creating more housing in a community starved for more housing.
With the guidance of house moving professionals, Spencer House Movers brought the 16 by 60 foot rambler 16 miles to its new location on a corner lot at 321 2nd Ave. SE.
The move started at 9 a.m. and ended three hours later at 12 noon. Minnesota State Patrol troopers guided the move on its last phase into Blooming Prairie.
Once in Blooming Prairie, BP Public Utilities workers helped raise electric wires to allow the house to continue on Steele County Road 45. Movers then trekked over 84thStreet. and onto a farm field where they headed east to their final destination.
The house is for sale, the Vogts said. They now will have a basement dug by Lembke Masonry and a wooden foundation made. The house currently sits on Vogt property just west of the Blooming Prairie Youth Club.
The house move is the second one done in Blooming Prairie during the last year by Spencer House Moving. A 22 by 28 house, owned by Judy and Wayde Bishop of Blooming Prairie, was moved from farmland south of Blooming Prairie to a lot on the southeast part of town last May.
"These guys are truly professionals," said Jake Vogt. The Spencer company spans six generations, says owner Heath Spencer.
Very few challenges were met during the house move, said Jake and Peter Vogt who followed the move its entire journey. One media wire at the entrance to County Road 45 from Highway 14 caused a slight slow-down.
The Vogts said the house was built in the mid-1960s.
The Vogts are the developers of other property on the north side of Blooming Prairie at Sixth Street NW. 
The development initially contained 14 lots. One was donated to the city for a pond. Thirteen build able lots remained. Three lots were sold leaving 10 buildable lots.
