7 BP alumni to be honored
They are regarded as
Blossoms Forever.
Seven special Blooming
Prairie Blossom alumni
will be saluted on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the 12th Annual Blooming Prairie Educa- tion Foundation Alumni Awards Banquet.
The Blooming Prairie Education Foundation is observing its 20th anniver- sary this year.
The Blossoms Forever night is planned for the BP Servicemen’s Club with so- cial hour at 5 p.m., the meal
at 6 p.m. and a program
follows at 7 p.m.
Special awards to honor alumni and staff were created by the Blossoms Forever group in 2008. The fundraising banquet has been in existence since
2001, says Blossoms Forever Committee member Julie Noble, past president of the BP Education Foundation.

Zwiener will be emcees for the evening event.
Awards will be pre- sented in three different categories:
• Distinctive Service (3)
– Capt. Theodore (Ted) Schreier, Class of 1933, posthumously; Tom Burke, Class of 1961 and Shannon Pfeifer Krucke- berg, Class of 1989.
• Athletic Hall of Fame (3) – Alan Morton, Class of 1948; John Dale Worke, Class of 1984 and Lisa Meshke, Class of 2000.
• Honored Educator (1) – Diane Anderson, Class of 1972.
The BP Education Foundation always enter- tains nominations for these prestigious awards, says Blossom Forever Commit- tee member Julie Noble.
Schreier was nominated by Jim Pirkl. Carol Krucke- berg nominated Tom Burke. She is a classmate of Burke. Shannon Pfeifer Krucke-

Janet Pfeifer. Tammy Bissel nominated her father, Alan Morton. John Worke was nominated by his wife, Mary Worke. Lisa Meshke gained recognition based on a nomi- nation by LeMar Nelson.
The Honored Educator Diane Anderson was nomi- nated by Blooming Prairie Superintendent of Schools Chris Staloch and by Julie Naatz, BP Elementary School secretary.

Special criteria is cited for each category.
For Distinctive Service,
candidates must have graduated from BPHS at
least 10 years prior to the
year selected. This person is known to have made a positive contribution to the benefit of mankind and has achieved success in one or more of the following areas: a profession, business, the arts, humanitarian efforts or community service.
For the Athletics Hall of Fame, candidates must have graduated from BPHS at least 15 years prior to selection. Accomplishments must have been achieved in a manner that exemplifies that of a student athlete. Outstanding athletic achievements may include setting school conference and state records, recogni-
tion at school conference
and state levels, unusual distinction in one sport for two reasons or consistent distinction in several sports for more than one season.
For Honored Teacher/ Administrator/Staff Mem- ber, candidates must have been an employee of the BP
school district for at least 10
years. The candidate must have served students in a manner that exceeded what is normally expected and many students should have gained positively from this service. The person may have earned awards at the state and national level. The
life of this person also must
