Austin Big Band scores high marks at Speakeasy event

Deviating from the past progression of moving from establishment to establishment, the third annual Speakeasy in Blooming Prairie took a different twist on Friday, Oct. 25.
In the past, Speakeasy attendees moved from bar to bar to escape the feds.
This past Friday night, attendees landed at the Blooming Prairie Servicemen's Club and enjoyed the melodies of a 16-piece band called the Austin Big Band. The band played favorites of the past.
Linda Theisen sang a couple of solos including "Just a Gigolo." Nathan Wradislovsky is the band leader.
Nancy Vaillancourt and Laura Thomas of the Blooming Prairie Library decorated the establishment with the guidance of Chamber executive director Becky Noble. All were dressed in threads of the 1920s and 1930s.
Other guests also dressed accordingly.
The dance floor was crowded during the entire evening.
Laura Thomas, Cathy Janning, Stephanie Bruggeman and Jenny Hendrickson took honors for being the most creative attire.
