Best Christmas Ever nominations are welcome
During the 2018 holiday season, a group of caring individuals brought a Best Christmas Ever to Blooming Prairie.
Best Christmas Ever is a 501C3 non-profit organization that partners with business leaders and communities to lift up families who have fallen on hard times through non fault of their own by giving them a Best Christmas Ever! BCE provides additional support to families following their BCE through the BCE family pillars.
This special organization made a brighter Christmas for Brandon Harberts and son Jaxon. Brandon's wife and 8-year-old daughter died of injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash in Dodge County on Sept. 7, 2018.
Rachel Harberts was a second grade teacher at the Blooming Prairie Elementary School. Daughter Emerson was a third grader. Jaxon was a seventh grader at the Blooming Prairie High School.
On this particular day in December of 2018, a group of caring individuals from BCE met Brandon and Jaxon at Bunkie's in Blooming Prairie and showered them with Christmas gifts.
Jason Kunz, founder of the Best Christmas Ever organization, is reaching out again to Blooming Prairie and surrounding communities for nominations of families that might deserve a Best Christmas Ever. Kunz was there the day Brandon and Jaxon were presented Christmas gifts.
The vision of BCE began with a single dad battling Ulcerative Colitis (UC) in 2010. It was Christmas Eve and he had just finished wrapping the few gifts he picked up from the convenience store for his son.
Life had certainly been difficult for them that year. Hearing a knock at the door, he answered to see three of his relatives with huge bags full of gifts.
Falling on hard times can leave a family in a difficult place, says Kunz. "We want them to know there is a whole community out there to lift them up. We created the BCE Family Pillars to provide additional support to families after their BCE: Faith, Family, Finance and Health."
Over 1,000 nominations were received in 2018. Kunz said 200 Best Christmas Evers were presented in 2018.
Nominations will be accepted until Nov. 15. Go to the Best Christmas Ever website at www.bcemovement.org/nominate-a-family.
