BP staff, residents meet administrator hopefuls

The candidates for Blooming Prairie City Administrator were in town this week, meeting with city employees and the general public.

“When this is over, I’ll sit down and get a summary of what they think,” said Mike Humpal, of South Central Service Cooperative, which was contracted to help find the best candidate. “When the hiring committee is deliberating, there’s always a right time to share what the staff thinks.”

After meeting with city employees Monday afternoon, the four went on a tour of the town with Interim Administrator Terri Zwiener, then returned for a meet-and-greet with citizens.

On Tuesday, the hiring committee met with each candidate for a formal interview, then discussed labor negotiations and parameters for contract language.

Humpal was then directed to contact the person chosen and present the approved job offer – he expects an answer today or Thursday.

“Any of these folks can do the job,” he said. “They have the skill sets; it’s who will be the best fit.”

The hiring committee consists of Kent Lea and Dennis Heimerman, from the public; Mayor Curt Esplan, Marcy Sundine and Greg Johnson, from the BP City Council; and Tony Motl and Jerry Mausbach, from city departments.
