The chief deputy for the Steele County Attorney's Office has been selected as the newest district court judge in Minnesota.
The Governor's Office announced Thursday that Christy Hormann will replace Honorable Steven Schwab on the bench in Freeborn County when he retires in March. She was selected over two other women for the judgeship.

“I am proud to appoint Ms. Hormann to the Freeborn County bench,” said Governor Walz. “Her work on the Third Judicial District Veteran’s Treatment Court and her dedication to helping those suffering from mental health and substance abuse issues give me confidence that she will lead with compassion and strive for equitable outcomes for all those who appear before her.”

Hormann has been a Steele County prosecutor since 2006.
