BREAKING NEWS: Driver killed in Steele County head-on crash
A driver was killed in a head-on crash in rural Steele County Thursday afternoon.
According to the Steele County Sheriff’s Office, one person was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identify has not been released at this time.
The crash happened on Lemond Road a couple miles south of Highway 14 around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Another driver was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
The sheriff’s office said one of the drivers had to be extricated from their vehicle.
“Extensive life-saving measures were performed by medical personnel on the scene; however, the party was pronounced dead as a result of injuries suffered in the crash,” the sheriff’s office reported.
The case remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office with help from the Minnesota State Patrol and Steele County Coroner’s Office.
