BREAKING NEWS: Grain Bin accident claims life in Steele County

A man has died in a grain bin accident at Crystal Valley Cooperative in Hope.

Emergency services responded to Hope around 9:20 p.m. Thursday, and rescue efforts began as soon as they arrived.

A Crystal Valley employee became fully engulfed in a grain bin while loading a train, leading to his death.

The employee's name is being withheld pending family notification, and the incident is still under investigation.

The Hope location is closed today while the investigation continues.

In a statement from Crystal Valley, company officials extend their heartfelt appreciation to the emergency services and volunteers on site. “Our deepest condolences go out to the employee's family and friends,” it said.
