BREAKING NEWS: ‘IT’S A GREAT DAY IN SOUTHERN MINNESOTA’

After decades in the making, U.S. Highway 14 is finally four lanes from Owatonna to Dodge Center. Local, state and federal dignitaries celebrated the roadway’s opening by cutting the ribbon outside of Claremont Tuesday morning.
Governor Tim Walz and U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar were among the officials joining in the celebration. The governor had the honors of cutting the ribbon.
Within minutes of the ribbon cutting, the State Patrol escorted the first vehicles on the eastbound side of newly created Highway 14. It was nearly two years to the day that construction began on the roadway. 
“It’s a great day in southern Minnesota,” said Margaret Anderson Kelliher, commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Added Sen. John Jasinski: “I am absolutely ecstatic that Highway 14 is finally open. This expansion will save countless lives.”
