BREAKING NEWS: Owatonna selects new police chief

Owatonna has chosen Captain Jeff Mundale as the city’s next police chief.

Mundale will take over as police chief on July 1 following the retirement of Keith Hiller, the city announced Monday.

“We are excited to see Jeff transition into this role as he continues advancing law enforcement and public safety services through partnerships, problem solving, teamwork and community engagement,” said Kris Busse, city administrator.

Mundale completed the FBI National Academy leadership program last December. He has also completed extensive training to prepare him as the next include in the following: supervision of police personnel, death/homicide investigation, FBI-LEEDA leadership institute, Leadership Owatonna and Courageous Leaders.
