CHALK YOUR WALK

The first and hopefully annual Chalk Your Walk event, sponsored by the Blooming Prairie Youth Club and Nanner Kruckeberg, was a grand success.
The Chalk Your Walk event ran from Aug. 27-30 and drew 30 entrants.
Object of the event was to place a design on their residential sidewalk, city sidewalk or business sidewalk. Driveways were also accepted as chalk targets.
First pace winner receiving $100 in BP bucks was Abby Aldrich. She drew some Disney characters including Mickey Mouse and a Frozen character named Olaf. She also drew Spongebob and a montage of the moon, stars, the sun and clouds. A flamingo was also on her artwork.
Second place winner was Alicia Ptacek. She won $50 in BP bucks. She drew a colorful design on a long driveway. The message was "Be Kind" and "Be Happy.
Third place winner was Kay Zellmer and she won $25 in BP bucks. She drew a large heart with flowers on the top left. The message was "Love one another" and "You are my Sunshine."
Blooming Prairie Youth Club members were out in force Friday, Aug. 28 leaving a chalk imprint on sidewalks through town.
This was a free event to all in the community and "a great way to spread positivity around town," says BP Youth Club staffer Alicia Ptacek.
Youth Club members and their advisors came up with their own theme for a sidewalk drawing. Some drew Disney characters, others drew a monkey and even a cow, both wearing a COVID-19 mask and another artist drew a hopscotch pattern.
Serenity Zirngible, 9, said art makes her happy. She did a drawing entitled Eat Healthy. She had a pig in the middle and it was surrounded by bananas, apples, strawberries, oranges, carrots, watermelon, lemons and grapes.
