Owatonna had little time to breath between big games after losing to Chanhassen in week two and hosting New Prague in week three, but the Huskies proved that they can go toe-to-toe with anyone after knocking off the previously undefeated Trojans 17-7.

New Prague’s shiny 2-0 record brought plenty of cardinal and black supporters to Owatonna last Friday, but cheers and smiles were reserved for those donning the Huskies’ royal blue and silver after the low-scoring, chess match of a game.

Owatonna trailed 7-0 early, but managed to convert a 25-yard field goal as time expired in the first half to trail 7-3.

The second half belonged to the Huskies and the squad benefited from the connection between quarterback Jacob Ginskey and wide receiver Caleb Hullopeter as the two combined for two touchdowns to seal the win.

Owatonna now moves to 2-1 overall and will travel to face Big Nine Conference rivals Northfield next on Friday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.
