Mantorville’s Chocolate Shoppe features yummy treats

For residents and visitors alike, a stop at The Chocolate Shoppe is a must when in downtown Mantorville.
The store is currently run by Lynnette Nash, who along with family members, makes hand-dipped chocolates as well as offering ice cream cones and a variety of old-fashioned candies.
The Chocolate Shoppe has been in Mantorville since 1976 and in Nash’s family since 1989 when her mother, Lynne Kenworthy, bought it. The Nash family bought the business from Kenworthy in 2012. Alexia Nash, Lynnette and Luke’s daughter, is now the third generation actively involved in the making of candy while Luke is described by his daughter as the “creative director” now that he is retired. He also makes the caramels and does the business website, she said.
The business has always been a family affair, Alexia recalled, saying that when she a baby she had a crib in the shop and “just sat there.” Later, she recalled using chocolate to paint pictures.
As she got older, she said, she began to learn about the business and now is helping to do the same with her 8-year-old great-niece Ava.
