Mary Ann Rishavy, 89, of Owatonna, died peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026, at the Owatonna Hospital.

Mary was born Feb. 8, 1937, at the Windom Hospital, the daughter of Clement and Margaret (Brand) Batalden. She was confirmed in her faith on April 9, 1950. Mary was a 1954 graduate of Lamberton High School. She went on to attend and graduate from St. Lucas Deaconess Nursing School in August 1957 in Faribault.

Mary was united in marriage to Clyde M. Rishavy of Medford on Sept. 1, 1957, at the E.U.B. Church in Germantown Township, Sanborn. They farmed in Deerfield Township, Medford, from 1957-1976, until they moved to a home west of Medford. They moved to a home in Owatonna in 1988 and to Realife Coop Living in 2001.

Mary worked as a registered nurse at St. Lucas Hospital in Faribault following graduation until January 1958. She was then employed at the Owatonna Hospital until September 1994. She would later work for Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault, the Waterville Nursing Home, and retired from the Cedarview Nursing Home.

Mary was an avid quilter, liked to read, and held various volunteer positions at St. John Lutheran Church, including being a Eucharistic Minister and Greeting Card Ministry, and the Owatonna Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards with various groups in the community.

Mary is survived by her three children, Nancy (Faye) Rishavy of Owatonna, Sue (Del) Relopez of St. Michael, and John Rishavy of Owatonna; grandchildren, Stephanie (Darren) Ewert, Brandon Jeno, Andrew (Robin) Jeno, Amelia Relopez, and Anna Relopez; great-grandchildren, Dalton Klampe, Lillian Ewert, Kyleigh and Madisyn Langfitt, Ella and Caleb Jeno, and Tori and Waylon Jeno; great-great-grandchildren, Hayden and Sierra Langfitt; brother, Arlyn Batalden of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Marilyn Bullard of Colorado Springs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde in 2005; brother, David, sisters-in-law, Jean and Eunice; and brother-in-law, Roger.

Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Steele Center Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church.
