Medford ranks as one of best schools in nation

“It’s pretty special, pretty amazing” said Principal Kevin Babcock. “It says a lot of our teaching staff. It represents a full group effort.”
Overall, Medford’s high school ranked No. 8,315 nationally out of 17,857 ranked schools and 150th statewide out of 414 schools ranked in Minnesota.
According to US News & World Report, the highest ranked U.S. public schools in its 2021 Best High Schools rankings are those whose students demonstrated outstanding outcomes above expectations in math and reading state assessments, earned qualifying scores in an array of college-level exams, and graduated in high proportions.
The US News & World Report’s high school ranking include data on nearly 24,000 public high schools across 50 states and the District of Columbia. Nearly 18,000 schools are ranked on six factors, including state assessments and how well they prepare students for college.
Reaction to a Facebook post about the honor drew praise from the community. “Medford is an excellent school!” responded one Medford graduate. “Woot. Woot!” exclaimed another.
