News Bulletin: Family launches GoFundMe campaign for hit and run victim

Anastasia Westphall, hit and run, owatonna, 2024

The family of Anastasia Westphall has started a GoFundMe to support the little girl’s recovery after being hit while crossing the street in Owatonna Tuesday night.

Anastasia is recovering at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester from injuries she sustained in the crash. “She is still in the hospital and continuing to improve every day,” the family shared. “We are in awe by her strength. She will need months of continued care and therapy.”

Among various injuries, Anastasis suffered a broken pelvis. Her parents will need to be home to care for her 24/7 as she is not allowed to move her pelvis for at least a month.

The family describes Anastasia as “our little firecracker.” She will turn 2 on July 4. She has three older sisters that she adores, the family said. Donations can be made at https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-anastasias-road-to-recovery

The alleged driver who hit Anastasia is facing a felony criminal vehicular operation charge.
