Owatonna DQ unexpectedly closes

Just over a year after re-opening, the Owatonna Dairy Queen has closed again–and it looks permanent this time.
DQ signage was removed on Monday. Customers on social media said the closure happened Sunday morning.
The restaurant last closed in February 2022 after a viral video posted in late January showed employees throwing a customer’s order at her through the front door. The customer then slipped and fell as she tried to kick the bag of food.
Twin Cities-based Fourteen Foods, which owns and operates the location, said in a Facebook post that the store would remain closed until completion of an internal investigation. The doors opened again in mid-July 2022.
A sign placed at the drive thru stated: “Officially closed. We would like to thank the Owatonna community for the business and support. Thank You. FourteenFoods family.”
Steele County Times reached out to Fourteen Foods Monday about the latest closure; the company had not responded to a request for more information as of press time.
