Owatonna Middle School sets Veteran’s Day program

A Veteran’s Day program is planned for Owatonna Middle School on Monday, Nov. 11 at 10:15 a.m.
Every year members of the American Legion Post 77, AMVETS 23, VFW Post 3723 and VFW Auxiliary 3723 join with middle school staff and student council representatives to host a Veteran’s Day program.
This year’s event will include presentations on the American flag, selections from the choir and a multimedia presentation incorporating pictures of veterans of middle school family members. The keynote speaker will be Don Hettinga, who is a veteran. Selected students will also read their essays titled, “What it Means to be an American.”
“The program provides students with awareness and appreciation of the service of our veterans,” said Wendy Camerer, organizer of the event. “The images are vivid, the music is uplifting and the passion is strong. It is a memorable moment for students just beginning to understand the service of others and the price that has been paid for our freedom.”
Veterans, families, parents and community members are invited to join for the event.
