REMEMBERING A PASSIONATE JOURNALIST

It is with a heavy heart and terribly great sadness that we announce the death of a wonderful friend and colleague, Deb Flemming. She has served as news editor of the Steele County Times for the past year and a half.
Deb died Monday night at the hospital in Faribault after a short and courageous battle with lung cancer. She was diagnosed less than three weeks ago and died peacefully at the hospital.
 
Journalism was Deb’s passion for more than 30 years. She began her career at her hometown newspaper, the Waseca Daily Journal. She is a former editor of the Owatonna People’s Press (1985-1992) and the Mankato Free Press (1995-2005). 
 
Deb will forever leave a lasting legacy on the newspaper industry, especially across southern Minnesota. She had a true passion for good journalism, and that brought strength and relevance to the papers she worked at over the years.
 
We request that you keep Deb’s family and friends as well as the rest of our newspaper family in your thoughts and prayers as we mourn her loss. 
 
A memorial service will be held Saturday from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault.  Deb was 67.
