Sara Jacobs, 49, Owatonna
Sara Ridge Jacobs, age 49, passed away Feb. 11, 2026, at her home in Owatonna.
Sara was born on May 23, 1976, to Gary and Glenda Ridge in Owatonna where she attended school and was a member of the graduating class of 1994. She was united in marriage to Jason Jacobs on Aug. 15, 1998. This union was blessed with three beautiful daughters and a lifetime of memories.
Sara attended Gustavus Adolphus College earning degrees in psychology and communications. She was a member of the Gustavus Track and Field team where she met her husband of 27 years on the first day of practice. She was voted captain her senior year and set school records as a part of the 4 x 400 meter and 4 x 200-meter relay teams. She was also a participant in the Division III National Track and Field Championships and a multi-year participant in the Drake Relays.
Sara dedicated most of her adult life as a stay-at-home mom, instilling her beliefs, life lessons, value of education, and passion for music to her children. She faithfully modeled biblical values for her husband and children teaching them to treat everyone with compassion, kindness, respect and to “love thy neighbor.”
Sara’s passions included learning about history, playing piano, cooking, and meaningful conversations with dear friends. Most of all she enjoyed attending her daughters’ activities such as concerts, musicals, and cross-country meets. She strived to be an advocate for those underrepresented, believed in equity and inclusion, and most importantly loved all people. Her family felt this love every day she was with us.
Sara is survived by her husband, Jason (“Jake”); children: Grace, Emily, and Lucy; mother, Glenda Ridge; sister Christi Reed (Jay Lunz); brothers-in-law Bill Jacobs (Linda) and Chris Jacobs (Briana); nephews: Garrett Reed, Wyatt Jacobs, Kade Jacobs; and nieces Ambriel Jacobs and Ariana Jacobs.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gary Ridge; infant brother; sister, Jennifer Ridge; grandparents Don and Leona Ridge; and grandparents Glenn and Loretta Metz.
