Wagner named director at Hospitality House

A new executive director has been added to the Hospitality House in Owatonna.

After creating a strategic plan over the past year and a half, Angela Wagner of Owatonna has been named to the new role. She will be working alongside Ashley Von Ruden, who will remain the house manager.

Wagner is the former director of the Owatonna Foundation.

“I am very pleased that Angela is joining Hospitality House,” said Tim McManimon, president of the nonprofit organization. “Her leadership experience along with her passion for enriching the lives of our guests, organizational excellence and community engagement are critical to our success.”

Wagner has a master’s degree in public and nonprofit administration. She is active in many organizations, including Early Edition Rotary, Owatonna Business Women, Owatonna Business Partnership, Women United for the United Way and Big Brothers Big Sisters where she serves as a big and sits on its recruitment committee. She is also a volunteer for Junior Achievement North.

“I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful organization that has helped so many individuals get a second chance,” said Wagner, who has lived in Owatonna since 2019. “I look forward to working with this great group of individuals to promote and expand our mission,” she added.

Wagner said one of the things she admires most is how the Hospitality House strives to be home free of judgment where men can find respite and a base from which to organize themselves for the next phase of their lives.

“I believe everyone deserves a second chance and a place to feel loved and accepted,” she said.

In addition to McManimon, there are several others serving on the board of directors, including Robin Frette, Brad Svenby, Ashley Steinberg Thon, Danielle Norrid, Arch Mrkvicka, Dan Wolfe and Jennifer Sorg.

Maureen Schlobohm, former director of Community Pathways, helped facilitate the search and will be assisting with the transition.

“Angela brings extensive experience in community engagement, public relations and asset development to the organization,” said Schlobohm. “She will be a fantastic additional to the organization and staff.”

Hospitality House opened its doors more than 15 years ago to partner with the community in ensuring that those experiencing homelessness have a safe and hospitable place to stay.
