Woman charged as BP Police uncover meth laced with fentanyl

A woman driving through Blooming Prairie with a canceled license has been charged with a felony after law enforcement reportedly found methamphetamine in her car.

Sarah Kuichtoch, 34, faces one count of first-degree drug possession and one count of driving after cancellation, a misdemeanor.

She remains in custody in lieu of $20,000 conditional bond and was expected back in court Wednesday.

The investigation began late Aug. 29, when a Blooming Prairie Police officer ran the license plate on a vehicle driving south on U.S. Highway 218 near Main Street. The registered owner of the car came back with a canceled license.

The vehicle made a stop at a local business, then pulled back onto the highway; the officer initiated a traffic stop.

According to the criminal complaint, Kuichtoch confirmed her identity as well as the status of her driver’s license. She told the officer some friends would come get the car, since she could no longer drive it. Because the vehicle was sitting in a turn lane, a tow truck was called to move it.

Her friends never showed up.

When the officer began a vehicle inventory prior to the tow, he allegedly saw a small bag of meth in the pocket of the driver’s door.

He then found a hamburger box from a fast-food restaurant that contained two large rocks of meth, the complaint says.

The search reportedly also turned up several small clear plastic bags, a scale, and a torch.

Court documents list the weight of the meth at about 2.25 ounces and indicated it tested positive for fentanyl.

If convicted, the felony carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison, a $1 million fine, or both.
