Kay Anderson, 87, Loveland, Colo.

Kay Marie Anderson, 87, of Loveland, Colo., passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026.

Kay graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1956 and the Methodist Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, in 1959.

In October 1959, she married Howard Anderson, her true partner in life. Kay worked as a nurse at Owatonna Hospital before transitioning to manage their household and work side-by-side with Howard on the farm. For nearly 65 years, she and Howard shared a beautiful partnership, handling daily chores together and navigating moves across multiple states with Kay’s trademark optimism.

Kay was a firm believer in giving back to her community, volunteering in leadership roles for her church, 4-H, and local, state and national pork producer associations. For several years, she managed the Aurora Lutheran Church diner at the Steele County Fair, rising at 3 a.m. to flip thousands of pancakes and enjoy time with her church and fair friends. Kay loved hosting and feeding people at her large dining room table and providing homemade donuts, cookies and other treats to Howard’s Pioneer seed customers.

A talented seamstress, Kay was recognized in "Make It with Wool" contests and created pigskin outfits for Minnesota pork queens. Her passion for textiles led her to work for many years in fabric stores and offer custom alterations and tailoring. She designed dozens of quilts for her grandchildren and family friends, always stitching a signature heart into the design. Kay taught Howard to run a sewing machine and together they stitched hundreds of quilts for people in need.

Kay is survived by her children, Cynthia (Chuck) Clanton, Pete (Denise) Anderson, and Becca Sletten (Dennis Ringhofer); her siblings, Karen Ingvaldson, Lucy (Bill) Monahan, and Jim (Monica) Mogen; her in-laws, Tina Mogen and David (Buggie) Anderson; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her parents, Sigvard and Geraldine Mogen; her brother, John Mogen; her brother-in-law, Jerry Ingvaldson; and her parents-in-law, Clarence and Mabelle Anderson.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Owatonna.
