NEWS BULLETIN: Steele County prosecutor finalist for judge

A Steele County prosecutor is a finalist to become a district court judge in Minnesota.
On Tuesday, the Commission on Judicial Selection announced that Christy Hormann is a finalist to become a judge in Freeborn County. She currently serves as the chief deputy in the Steele County Attorney’s Office.
There are two other finalists for the position: Natalie Martinez and Stephanie Haedt. Both of them have ties to the judicial system in Mower and Freeborn counties.
In her role with Steele County, Hormann’s caseload consists of civil commitments, guardianships or conservatorships and adult felony criminal cases.
Hormann’s community involvement includes serving on the board of directos for the Crisis Resource Center and the Steele County Safety Camp.
Prior to working with Steele County, Hormann was an assistant county attorney in the criminal division for Ramsey County.
It’s unknown when Governor Tim Walz will appoint the new judge to take over for the retiring Honorable Steve Schwab in Freeborn County
