OHS Diversity Club crafts cards for patients, seniors
This month, Members of RAD/Mixed Roots, Owatonna High School’s diversity club, spent Compass Day afternoon giving back to the community in a creative and heartfelt way.
As part of Huskies Give Week, members of RAD/Mixed Roots made colorful, uplifting cards for local hospital patients and residents at nursing homes. Each card featured cheerful messages and designs meant to bring smiles to those who receive them, reflecting RAD’s commitment to empathy, inclusion, and service.
Following the card-making activity, students celebrated culture and togetherness by playing Thanksgiving (Día de Acción de Gracias) Lotería, a festive twist on the traditional Mexican game. Laughter and friendly competition filled the room, allowing club members to bond while honoring cultural traditions and playing a fun game!
The afternoon was a perfect example of RAD’s mission: making a positive difference in our community. Through creativity, service, and shared fun, RAD/Mixed Roots members demonstrated that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
