Friends may greet the family on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 4–6 p.m. at Brick–Meger Funeral Home, 1603 Austin Road, Owatonna. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart.

Phyllis was born in Owatonna on Sept. 6, 1932, the daughter of Joseph L and Helen (Hudrlik) Dushek. She attended Owatonna High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1950. Following high school, Phyllis worked for Federated Insurance.

She was united in marriage to James F. (Jim) Springer on June 30, 1956, at Sacred Heart Church in Owatonna. The couple made their home in Owatonna and Phyllis was a stay-at-home mom for her children. Later she worked at Owatonna Savings and Loan for 17 years and finished her career at S.C.O.P.E. (Steele County Opportunity Parent Education).

She was a member of Council of Catholic Women, Catholic Order of Foresters and Sacred Heart Church. The greatest joy in Phyllis’ life was her family, grandchildren and great- grandchildren and seeing and enjoying their accomplishments. She enjoyed her annual canning season putting up all the bounty of the harvest, baking, and crocheting. She was an avid Minnesota sports fan.

We not only grieve her passing, but we rejoice in the grace of her happy death as she passed away nourished by the sacraments of the Catholic Church, enriched by the prayers of family and friends and surrounded by her loved ones in her final days.

Left to carry on her memory are her children Kevin (Tara) Springer of Naperville, Ill., and their children: Jake (Jenelle) and Miranda (James); Greg (Emily) Springer of Mendota Heights, MN, and their children: Alison (Nick), Joe (Sara), Lisa, and Nick; and Sue (Rich) Gerdts of Owatonna, and their children Josh (Christina), Joanna, Holly, and Jason; six great-grandchildren with two on the way.
