Potential buyer out, relisting possibly next

The Ellendale City Council discussed getting the Ellendale Municipal Liquor Store relisted after a potential buyer informed the council they were no longer interested in the property.
Council member Stephanie Kibler said she had spoke to the owners of Berkshire Hathaway HomeService Advantage Real Estate in Owatonna about listing the property.
“They stopped by this morning and did a walk through checking it out,” she said. “[Berkshire Hathaway] called this afternoon and said they were extremely impressed with the interior and exterior of the building.
“They are very interested in listing it,” she continued. “They will put together something for us to review. They would like to do it with a professional photographer coming in to do the photos, and [Berkshire Hathaway] had suggested maybe having drone fly over and get some drone shots.
KIbler said the realtor did notice that the liquor store had a lot of inventory.
“If we are going to list it, then we are going to want to start cutting back on that,” she said.
“Because no one is going to want to absorb that,” Mayor Russ Goette added.
Kibler said she was told by Berkshire Hathaway that given the way that commercial real estate is going, they don’t see it being a long process and given the condition of the building and equipment, it appears that it would be a profitable business for someone.
The council plans to make an official decision at its next meeting on Thursday, Oct. 25.
In other business, the council:
Approved the adoption of the Minnesota General Records Retention schedule.
The purpose of a records retention schedule is to provide a plan for managing government records by giving continuing authority to dispose of record under Minnesota Statutes section 138.17. The general retention schedule establishes minimum retention periods for records based on their administrative, fiscal, legal and historical value. It lists common records series and identifies how long to retain them. The schedule was originally developed by the Apple Valley Firefighters Relief Association and approved by the Records Disposition Panel in April 2012.
Approved the purchase of a stainless steel snow plow from Curt’s Truck and
Diesel Service Inc. for the amount of $7,477.85.
Approved the changing of the second meeting in November to Nov. 29, to
avoid any conflicts with the Thanksgiving holiday.
Approved claims submitted for payment and meeting minutes from Sept. 27 and Oct. 3.
