Record donation for BP Cancer

With the help of sizable donations from the Blooming Prairie Cancer Group and from the Geneva Cancer Group, the Fifth District Eagles Cancer Telethon went over the $1 million mark.
Late Sunday afternoon, it was announced that the 65th annual Telethon reached $1,011,834.
The Blooming Prairie Cancer Group donated $110,000, marking it as the largest donation it has ever made to the Eagles Cancer Telethon. 
The Geneva Cancer Group donated $105,000, almost the same as its donation of $110,000 last year.
Eight BP Cancer Group volunteers presented a check to the Eagles. The Stix of Fury Drum Corps performed before the check was presented.
Representatives of the BP Cancer Group said this year's donation was dedicated to Philip Milton, a staunch cancer volunteer who worked hard for many years on various cancer projects. Cancer claimed him last July.
Whitey Hagen and his wife LeJune made the Geneva Cancer Group check presentation at 12:40 p.m. on Sunday.
"Philip was smiling down at us," said a jubilant Cheri Krejci, BP Cancer Group treasurer. "It's just phenomenal," said Jennifer Milton, Philip's wife, who was happy and tearful at the same time.
"We have a lot of generous people in this area and we are thankful for their efforts to help fight cancer," Whitey Hagen said. "Hopefully, we can get some good news soon that says we have found a cure for all cancers," Hagen added.
