Vintage run brings in $2K for Ellendale

The Ellendale Municipal Liquor Store has received a $2,000 donation after recently hosting a vintage snowmobile run. 
MLS Manager Ralph Diaz said the event had a “fair turnout.” 
The Ellendale City Council accepted the donation from the Steele County Snowmobile Association to be used for expenses at the Municipal Liquor store at its bimonthly meeting on Thursday, Jan. 31.
Diaz said new bathroom stall doors have been installed at the MLS, the addition looks nice and has received some positive feedback and they will hosting a pool tournament in the near future.
In other news, the council:
▪  Heard an update from City Attorney Mark Rahrick regarding
information on what would be needed to be done to rename a street.
▪  Received a report from City Clerk Lee Ann Hojberg, who said the electric and
plumbing has been completed in the community center shower room, but the washer the fire department wants to purchase will not fit through the space. “It was shared that we will need to remove the interior wall or at least some of the brick,” Hojberg said. “It was suggested that we write a letter to the Steele County Gambling Association to see if they would donate some money to this.”
▪  Approved the repeal of Resolution 01-10-19-02 Service Fee Schedule for 2019
with resolution 01-24-19-02. 
▪  Presented and discussed the Data Practice Policy for the Public.
▪  Heard a report from Mayor Russ Goette, who discussed his recent meeting
Community and Economic Development Associates. Some of the items discussed were a new apartment complex in Ellendale and the city’s need for an Action Plan.
▪  Received a report from Council member Scott Groth, who stated he would like
to thank Nelson Electric for its assistance in putting up the Christmas lights across Main Street. Goette shared that he was approached about purchasing additional lights going out to the west side of town. 
▪  Received a handout from Council member Steve Engel on the liquor license
fees that are being charged by other cities in the area. The council put this item on the agenda as new business for the next meeting to discuss as a full council.
