Walter Miller, 88, Scottsdale, Ariz.
Walter Frank Miller died on Nov. 7, 2025, at Hospice of the Valley Sherman Home in Scottsdale, Ariz. to be reunited with his daughters, Cathy, Carol and loved ones in heaven.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Litomysl, 9946 SE 24th Ave., Owatonna. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 9:15 a.m. Interment will follow the Mass at Holy Trinity Cemetery at Litomysl with military honors provided by the Steele County Funeral Unit.
Walter was born in Kasson on March 25, 1937, to Frank A. and Anna L. Miller. He was the oldest of six boys. Walt grew up on a farm in Owatonna, went to a country school, and graduated from Owatonna High School. He was in the National Guard and Air Force.
Walt married Rita Wencl on April 20, 1963. They moved to Tulsa, Okla., and had three daughters: Cindy, Cathy & Carol. They moved to Rochester in 1969.
Walt helped start Hiawatha Homes in Rochester. He was a member of Elks Lodge, and Knights of Columbus. Walt retired after 30 years with IBM and moved to Fountain Hills, Ariz., where he worked for Mayo Clinic for 18 years.
Walt was a man with many talents. He designed two homes in Minnesota. He enjoyed his workshop with wood and metal working, building an elevator in two garages, fixing anything and everything with his many tools, learning and working on computers and traveling the globe with his wife Rita.
Walt is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rita, and daughter Cindy Miller; siblings Ed, Roger, Ken and Bob Miller. Walt was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Greg and daughters, Cathy and Carol Miller.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hiawatha Homes, 1820 Valkyrie Dr. NW, Rochester, MN 55901.
