Delmer Reynolds, 93, Fergus Falls

On Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, Delmer Robert “Bob” Reynolds, age 93, was called home to be with the Lord. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his fellow veterans and family at the Minnesota Veterans Home at Fergus Falls.

Bob was born March 9, 1933, in Mankato to Delmer E. and Elsie Reynolds. He grew up farming with his father near Mapleton and then near New Richland. Bob attended and graduated from the New Richland High School in 1950.

In the Fall of 1952, Bob’s friends (THE DRAFT BOARD) thought he should serve in the Korean War, so he was drafted and entered the service on Dec. 10, 1952. After completing his training in Indiana, he was shipped off to Japan for three years and returned to the States in June 1956.

The last weekend Bob was in the States, he met Lorraine Sommer (his future wife) at a dance in Owatonna. Bob and Lorraine had one date before he was shipped overseas. Bob and Lorraine wrote to each other for 3 years. One “whole” week after he returned to the States, Bob and Lorraine became engaged and were married on Sept. 23,1956.

Bob had many jobs over the years, but owning and operating “KING TUT’S PIZZA PALACE” in Owatonna for 18 years with his family was his pride and joy. He was also very dedicated to his country in serving in the United State Army for over 26 years with 15 years being full-time. He retired in March 1993.

Bob was very devoted to his wife and family. In 1975, Lorraine and Bob purchased land on Devil’s Lake in Brandon, Minn. They enjoyed many family times on this property over the 50 years they owned it – camping and enjoying the outdoors -and built their retirement home there in 1993. Bob also enjoyed playing cards, visiting with friends and family, traveling, and sharing his great laugh and sense of humor. He was also fully committed to community service, not only through his church-Grace Lutheran, but through the Brandon Lions Club, American Legion, VFW, and the Douglas County Lake Association.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Lorraine Reynolds, his sisters, Sharon (Roger) Hanson of Kenyon, Minnesota; Shirley (Steve) Funk of Elizabeth City, Ind.; his sister-in-law Cathy Reynolds of Mapleton; his sons, Steven (Chris) Reynolds of Owatonna; Larry Reynolds of Claremont; his daughters, Patricia (Al) Jeter of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; Debra (Jim) Breister of Oakdale, Minn.; and Sandra (Ann) Reynolds of Mason City; nine grandchildren, Melissa (Shawn) Jacobsen and Joshua Reynolds both of Faribault; Trista (Adam) Babcock of Medford; Savanah (Taylor) Warren of Charlotte, N.C.; Samantha Reynolds and Zachary Reynolds both of Fargo; Jeremy Breister and Justin Breister both of Oakdale; Karen Jeter of Fuquay-Varina; and five great-grandchildren.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Delmer E. and Elsie Reynolds; his brother, Richard Reynolds; his daughter-in-law, Angie Reynolds; and several great friends.
