Dennis Kubicek, 80, Austin
Dennis Charles Kubicek, age 80, of Austin, passed away peacefully at home on May 1, 2026, surrounded by his family. Dennis was born on Feb. 20, 1946, to Clement and Dorothy (Pribyl) Kubicek. He was the middle child of five siblings. In February 1976, Dennis married Charlotte (Hoeper). Together they raised four children: Tammy (Duane) Smith, Michele (Jay) Hoeper, Thomas Kubicek, and Denise Kubicek. Dennis was also a proud grandfather to Michael, Ashley (Keith), Anna, Madelyn, Isaac, RyLeigh, Sydney, and Keira, and a great-grandfather to Arianna. Dennis grew up working on the family farm with his parents and siblings. Dennis attended high school in Owatonna, Minnesota, and later continued his education in Mankato. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Specialist (SP5), where he worked as an accountant and earned a National Defense Service Medal.
After his Honorable Discharge in 1969, Dennis began his career with Hormel Foods in Austin. He started in the plant’s Accounting Department and later moved to the Corporate Office in 1978, where he continued his dedicated service. Dennis was a faithful member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin. In his free time, he enjoyed softball, bowling, golfing and gardening. Dennis enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up and watch them participate in baseball, football, dance and music. Dennis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte Kubicek, and his parents, Dorothy (Pribyl) and Clement Kubicek. He is survived by his children: Tammy (Duane) Smith of Austin, Michele (Jay) Hoeper of Austin, Thomas Kubicek of Rochester, and Denise Kubicek of Austin; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter; his brothers: Roger (Donna) Kubicek and John (Peggy) Kubicek; his sisters: Barb (Lyle) Snyder and Audrey Halla; sisters-in-law: Ann Olund, Geraldine (Roger) Tildsley and Darla (Roger) Siefker; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father James Starasinich officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and will continue at the church on Thursday morning for one hour prior to Mass. Interment will be 1 p.m. on Friday, May 8t at Grandview Cemetery with Austin Post #91 American Legion and Olaf B. Damm Post #1216 V.F.W. in charge of military rites.
