Owatonna girls stack three more wins

Owatonna girls lacrosse remained in second place in the Big Nine Conference standings after winning three straight games against Mankato, Lakeville North and Rochester John Marshall/Lourdes (RJML) last week.

The Huskies rebounded well from a 9-7 road loss to Rochester Century on April 30 to begin their streak and continue to challenge for the conference lead.

Owatonna’s most recent win was a 13-8 showdown at home against Lakeville North.

The Huskies started off hot by outscoring the Panthers 4-2 in the opening quarter before taking a 7-5 lead into halftime.

Down the stretch, Owatonna outscored Lakeville North 2-1 in the third before closing out the game with another 4-2 quarter to win 13-8.

Individual player stats from Owatonna’s win were not provided by the time of press.

Earlier in the week, Owatonna scored a 14-2 blowout win against conference opponent RJML.

The Huskies were perfect in the first half and utilized two 4-0 quarters to lead 8-0 at halftime.

RJML managed to score a goal in both the third and fourth quarters, but Owatonna still managed to outscore the opposition 2-1 and 4-1 in each frame.

The duo of Amelia Moran and Isla Torabpour were the Huskies’ leading scorers on the night.

Moran recorded a double hat trick with six goals (also scoring an assist) while Torabpour added three goals of her own.

Owatonna’s Nora Marshall earned the win in net by stopping 10 of 12 shots for an 83.3% save percentage.

The Huskies final win of the week was another blowout performance in an 8-3 game over Mankato.

Moran and Torabpour once again led all Huskies with three points each, both notching two goals and one assist.

Marshall earned another win in net by stopping 14 of 17 shots for an 82.4% save percentage.

The Huskies played Rochester Mayo on Monday, May 11, however, stats and results from the game were not available before the time of press.
